Doctor’s Visits/Clinical Care
- Each resident has the right to choose their own Doctor, providing he/she is willing to visit the facility.
- A doctors clinic is held monthly. Currently Dr V Lee and Dr Chris Cain from the Kempsey Medical Centre attend.
- All Doctors must be available for 24 hours per day in an emergency.
- In the event the Doctor cannot be contacted, residents will be transferred to the emergency department at Kempsey District Hospital.
- Medical care is reviewed every three months or sooner if required.
- Ambulance transfer to hospital for assessment may also be appropriate at times. Person responsible will be notified in such instances.
- Person responsible will be informed promptly of any significant change in the resident’s condition and at other times on the request of the resident
- Residents/Person Responsible are encouraged to have input into their Care Plan
Diversional Therapist
A Diversional Therapist is on duty 3 days per week and an Activities Officer for 3 days per week to ensure the social well-being of each resident is maintained. Some of the services provided or arranged by the Diversional Therapist include community involvement through outings, as well as in house activities such as entertainment, craft, indoor sports, charity bingo, exercises and many more.
Hairdresser
A Hairdressing Salon is available on site for the convenience of the residents. A qualified hairdresser is available weekly. The prices are extremely reasonable and expenses incurred are to be paid at the appointment. No credit is available. The Activities Officers also sets hairs for residents every Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Beauty Clinic
A beauty clinic is held monthly for the convenience of residents.
Dentists
Most Dental needs require the resident to visit their Dental Surgery or Hospital. Appointments will be arranged by the Nurse Manager or family.
Optometrist
Visits can be arranged by the Nurse Manager or carer at the request of residents/person responsible.
Hearing
Hearing tests can be arranged by the Nurse Manager as required.
Physiotherapist
A Physiotherapist visits the facility on a regular basis.
Speech Therapist
Appointments can be arranged by the Nurse Manager, following an assessment by the visiting Medical Officer, in consultation with the resident and their relative/person responsible.
Dietician
All menus are developed in consultation with a qualified Dietician. The individual needs of each resident are respected and the Nurse Manager will arrange consultation with a Dietician should special dietary needs be identified. Religious and Cultural groups will be catered for. Residents, relatives/person responsible are encouraged to express their dietary preferences with the Facility Manager on admission.
Transport
A bus stop is located at the entrance to the facility. Community transport is available for a small fee. Bookings are to be made through the office.
